PRESS RELEASE

SPRING - SUMMER COLLECTION 2004

                  “LACE…..PROCESSION”
( Paul Delvaux – surrealist painter)

Neorealism, the return to what is True” and Authentic” but, at the same time, a “Make-believe” that is more realistic than the “real” as source of inspiration for the new Collection.
Fashion images “taken” from the cinema change into “Decadent Luxury” and natural essence of “matter”.
Raffia is recreated in new embroidery forms becoming, at times netlike to enrich full skirts, then flowers to decorate sculpture-corsets.
From the Short Stories written by Verga and Pirandello, and “brought to life” by celluloid artists as Visconti, Antonioni, Zeffirelli or Taviani, the women in the Sicilian Cinema ,come to life, not as Hollywood stars but strong and self-confident women, rich “inside” and dressed in precious ornaments.
We dedicate to them our filet embroidered corsets decorated with fragments of mother-of-pearl that seem bourbon jewels or jewels decorated with precious coral from Sciacca.
A homage to Sicilian embroidery, wealth and to its tradition in patch-work skirts that relate the history and its origins.
Bufalino writes: “Sicily is a natural film set”.
Beaches similar to strings of pearls, mountains of shades and silence, columns as girls’ bodies.
Behind, the intriguing eye of the film director, a story poet; before, a procession of lace and stone souls.
A Collection as a short film describing landscapes, atmosphere and emotions.

Dedicated to the 50th anniversary of the Cinema Festival in Taormina.
