“THE ISLAND OF THE CYCLOPS”

Going back to myths and legends, Marella Ferrera turns to the land of the Odyssey Cyclops for her new collection.

Night was falling, and the proud shepherd was  returning from the fields with his shiny woolly sheep… “(Odyssey – Book IX).

A Homeric atmosphere influences, in the loom woven net with coarse wool, the loose, wrapping, white and black cabans.
Warm mohair wool embroidered on head veils and again wool nets inlaid with pieces of lava stones with a ceramic aspect for soft jackets and long modelling and flowing dresses in Mediterranean black mixed to grey and white tonalities.

He raised a bigger rock, and twirling it in the air…he threw it.” (Odyssey – Book II).

Jewel-medallions in lava stone and the resin flow with a pictorial effect on sculpture corsets producing evocative light effects.

A mix of tradition and technology, inedited fantasies and changing shades produced by the superimposition of sophisticated materials for soft night cabans and for double singlets in transparent chiffon laser “sculptured” with a double face effect.

Black ceramic layers as coal, composing precious jewel bouquets on velvet jackets and tulle singlets and again protagonist is white and black for lace inlays in a 16th century memory patchwork.

 

During the day, she wove her cloth and then undid it at night” (Odyssey – Book II).

At last Sicilian lace and embroidery designed with flowers and young plants producing an end of millennium neo-romanticism.
